Robert Duvall says Sarah Palin is “smarter than you think”

Yesterday Robert Duvall was a guest on the Howard Stern show, and Stern asked him about Palin.  “She’s smarter than you think”, said Duvall.

That would not take very much in my case.  Seriously.  If she could follow one single topic on a logical path, she would be smarter than I think she is.

(And how unlikely is it that THAT’s gonna happen?)

Comedian Kathy Griffin lobbies for repeal of DADT

“In my opinion this is a civil rights issue, and I want my Army, that my taxes pay for, to be a non-discriminatory Army.”  ~Kathy Griffin

I started watching Kathy Griffin’s My Life on the D-List a few weeks ago after she was a guest on the Howard Stern show and talked about Levi Johnston’s supposed damning info on Sarah Palin – that got my attention!  I already watch a ton of TV shows so I wasn’t thrilled about adding yet another to my list, but I actually like it.  This week’s episode, Kathy Goes to Washington, was surprisingly awesome.

Griffin is big in the gay community and she does a lot to support gay rights.  In this episode she was given an award by the Human Rights Campaign for her work, and decided she wanted to have a rally in Washington D.C. to support the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.  Among others, she met and spoke with Rep. Barney Frank and Rep. James Clyburn, the House Majority Whip, as well as some gay soldiers who are forced to serve in secrecy because of DADT.  She also met with Michael Almy, the former Major who was discharged (fired) for being gay after his private email was hacked into and he was outed.  Almy has been a guest a few times on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show post-firing.  (This doesn’t fit with the criteria – he didn’t tell anyone – even his family didn’t know!)  Mr. Almy was different when talking with Griffin than he had been on Maddow’s show…he was more vulnerable, and explained how emotional the experience was, and that he felt suicidal for about the first month after he was fired.

At the rally, a surprise visitor got Griffin’s attention – Lt. Dan Choi, the well-known West Point grad linguist who is still in the process of…sort of being fired.  He’s brought so much publicity to the issue I suppose the military hasn’t been able to suck it up and take the heat of firing him – yet.  (Lt. Choi actually came out on the Rachel Maddow show in 2009…ballsy act on this man’s part, because he put himself into the line of firing by doing so.)  Turns out the rally was the same day Lt. Choi got arrested as a protester – he left the rally, went to the White House, chained himself to the fence, and was arrested.

It’s pretty unexpected for a Kathy Griffin show to be anything but goofy, but this was a moving episode and I have an entirely new appreciation for her.  To help support the repeal of DADT please visit the HRC site.

Girl Helps Shelter Cats and Dogs

From freekibblekat.com:

“Mimi Ausland, a 12 [now 13] year old girl from Bend, Oregon, wanted to help feed the hungry animals at her local animal shelter. “There are 10’s of thousands of dogs and cats in animal shelters across the country, all needing to be fed a good meal.” Say hello to freekibble.com and freekibblekat.com!

Freekibble.com’s primary mission is to provide good, healthy food to dogs and cats to those shelters who are working so hard to see that none of them go hungry – they need our help. In addition to providing free kibble to the Humane Society of Central Oregon, we’ve added 13 new shelters to the program (from Oregon to Florida!) and plan to expand the program to many more! Thanks to everyone for supporting freekibble by playing the trivia game – every piece of kibble counts!”

(This is similar to freerice.com)

Now Mimi has started an email/letter campaign to President Obama to name April 30 as National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.  Letters for Pets.

More on Mimi’s story here and here.

Geez, Mel….

“You should just fucking SMILE and BLOOOWW me!!”

~ Mel Gibson to Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of his young child.

Not sure that’s physically possible, but I heard this raging rant on the Howard Stern show this morning, and Robin Quivers made an excellent observation.  She said that the only rant that even compares to this is Jack Nicholson’s infamous rant to Ann Margaret in Carnal Knowledge.  Of course that was brief and it was just a movie.

Damn, the guy is vicious and frightening.  I’ve read that Australians “just talk that way” – say inappropriate things, etc., but whatever.  Crazy, unhinged people also “just talk that way”.  I’m glad she’s smart enough to get herself and the kid away from him!

I’ve been a huge fan of The Road Warrior for over two decades, but I don’t think I can ever watch the movie again.  I wonder if people remember that he’d become big in the U.S. with The Year of Living Dangerously,  Mrs. Soffel, The Bounty, and The River, and I believe it was during the early days of the release of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome that he talked about having had some problems.   In interviews he spoke about having to take a break because he’d been working a lot and had pretty much lost himself, drinking heavily, flying into rages, and risking his marriage.  He took some time off and got himself together, saved his marriage, and then came back with Lethal Weapon and proceeded to become a megastar.

So there is history with him and drinking and outrageously raging….  But he wasn’t a megastar back then (less distance to fall), and people didn’t take video and audio recordings of everything and make them public.  Aaaand – he was young.   Everything is different now, pal.

Here’s his also-infamous recently released racist rant.  And the next racial slur recording released.  Of course these also include mind-boggling, raging viciousness towards Oksana, too.  And oh yeah, she ruined his life, he says.

Things that drive me crazy – 01

I have a particularly negative reaction when people try to pose an argument but can’t or won’t provide their rationale for any point they’re making, don’t pay attention or give thought to a thing I’m saying, yet still insist they’re “right”.  I’m highly opinionated so I can understand this to some degree, but it drives me crazy.

I prefer that people just be honest.  Why don’t they just tell me what they think is right, instead of wasting my time pretending that my position has any relevance for them?  (That’s what I do!)   We can exchange opinions respectfully and then be on our way.

Games annoy the hell out of me.

Scott Baio Wishes Death On My Cat (?!?)

Scott Baio has quite a time on Twitter, what with his history of making racial and political comments and expecting everyone to just keep their mouths shut about it.  Now he seems to be wishing death on my cat (or me?) and complaining because he’s a public figure and can’t go after me (or my cat?).  This, just a few weeks after he was upset when death threats were made against him for posting a crass comment with a pic of Michelle Obama.

Last week I posted comments on a few of his Twitpics, and I guess something made him REALLY mad because after deleting the comments he tweeted this:  (Pssst…he doesn’t like me very much.)

I’ll be sending this to PETA and asking whether they think he’s wishing death on my cat or on both of us (if not, it must be just on me).

Just prior to that one, he’d tweeted this:

Umm…I rarely comment on his twitpics, and it’s typically only his racially-oriented pics when word gets out about them.  Sheesh, most of his pics are so inane I lose 10 IQ points just looking at them.  Yes, I’m Mo Moore, the newly-regrown-headed-cockroach “black PUSSYcat”, though I wasn’t trolling him (trolling doesn’t really apply to twitpic anyway).  And I am not suspended (but I might get permanently banned after this, considering his history of complaining to Twitter about me and the rest of the “retarded LIEberals” who call him out on his racial and political crap).

Here’s the entire string of tweets he let loose.  (I’ve separated them to spare the reader’s scrolling, but the stream is shown intact, in two parts, here.)  And you might notice, race even comes into this stream – it seems black is extra notable for him, whether human or cat!  He posts pics of kittens and cats, so he’s not a cat hater – but I’ve never seen a black cat in his pics.

(Classy guy, right?  So apparently he really is yelling at my cat…maybe I should tell him he’s neutered and doesn’t even have “nuts” anymore.)
And in the next breath, he sends out “love” and “peace” (people come down on him when he behaves this way, so he likes to throw this kind of stuff in because we all know it erases all the crap he’s just said).

Omigoodness, my cat and I are intolerable to society!  Where are our meds?!

I wonder if he realizes that it’s not my “BLACK CAT!!!!!!!” who is posting comments on his twitpics?  And that he can “roast” me regardless of what avatar I use?  I’m coming out of the closet as of this moment – I AM NOT A CAT.

Something tells me he didn’t want to “roast” me, as in a Joan Rivers’ type roast…there are several reasons for my suspicions on that, not the least of which being that it would never occur to him because he has no sense of humor.  You might’ve noticed that by the rant.  If not, keep reading.

Here are the actual pics and the comments I made, which incited this death-wish and his desperate need to protect his family’s safety from my cat and me.  (By the way, I use the same avatar everywhere, so you can see how scary and hate-inspiring my cat looks here on this page.)

First I see this classy toilet-humor photo with an invitation to add my own caption.  How could I resist that?!

Now that is just screaming for some smart-assery, so:

Scott deleted that comment pretty quickly.  I dunno why!  So I put up this one (he did say “please”):

In typical Baio fashion, he’d posted personal info about his family (it makes the fans give him more attention), saying that his wife just found out she was allergic to celery. Well, so are gazillions of people, the vast majority of whom don’t know and don’t care.  And who the heck would tell the world about it on twitter unless they wanted to laugh about it?!?   If you’ve made it to 40-ish (which his wife has) and haven’t died after eating celery, then it’s not dangerous.  (I’ve almost died from anaphylactic shock, so I’m neither insensitive nor ignorant about these things.)

Just as I’d finished that comment, he put up another pic and said to “add your own caption”.  I was bored by this time, so just put up something silly:

So there you have it.  That’s what incited the rant and death-wish.  Baio routinely makes racially-oriented & extreme political comments, “jokes” about the President, the First Lady, and sometimes gays, and throws a fit when people complain about it.  And then he wishes death on my cat and/or me for these ridiculous comments.  Gotta hand it to him, he never stops surprising me…..

Maybe in a future post I’ll start showing you the blossoming animosity of our twitter “relationship”.  Now that had some kick to it, and yet I think he refrained from publicly wishing my cat and/or me dead back then.
